Sottero and Midgley 2018 ‘Grayson’ Collection First Look

Maggie Sottero’s couture line showed a contemporary take on bridal fashion at their National Bridal Market Chicago presentation.

Sottero and Midgley first look

Sottero and Midgley was created for the chic and elegant bride with style.  The line offers statement-making high level bridal fashions that are meant to impress the modern bride.  These cutting-edge designs are a product of a collaboration between Maggie Sottero and Kelly Midgley (founder Lesley Margaret Webster’s daughter).

While attending the National Bridal Market in Chicago, I found that the Sottero and Midgely designs lived up to their brand motto – providing a show that created the most fashion buzz of the whole Bridal Market.  The collection, named after a new dress named Grayson, was packed with modern silhouettes, beautiful embellishments, and rich details.  The line is a bit pricier than the Maggie Sottero line, but with couture, this is expected.

Where the 2018 Sottero and Midgely Grayson line stands out from the pack is their ornate back embellishments.  Many of the newest bridal collections are designed to show off the bride’s back, but this particular line really gives you a punch of design- right in the back.

My favorite example of back bling is Arleigh, in diamond white with an exquisitely-detailed back…

Another beautiful back design is Liam, which won my heart for my favorite overall dress of the National Bridal Market Chicago…

Barrett is an alabaster and silver-accented dress with this gorgeous design across the lower back…

Even ballgown silhouettes can have a pretty design in back, like this tulle beauty named Emery

The namesake of this season’s collection, Grayson, has a seriously beautiful back…

The bride needs not apply bling directly to the back to make a statement – like Noah.  This dress has a backless look, but the bling is in the train!

And Sottero and Midgley’s finale dress, named Gavin, has a pretty little surprise back…
