Red Carpet Dress Inspo: SAG Awards

The fashion at the SAG Awards can be kind of hit or miss, because it’s not as big as the Oscars or Golden Globes, but not as casual as the Grammys.  And this red carpet turned out to be slightly tame…

While several red carpet looks were pretty, most where on the safe side.  Most of the celebs walking the red carpet appeared to play it simple, with only a handful donning bold looks.  Let’s dig in, and let the analyzing begin…

Starting off is Julia Louis Dreyfus, who is epitomizes what I mentioned above… her dress is pretty.  But this Lela Rose gown is tame.   It’s alright, and it looks good on her.

A slightly more interesting look is Kirsten Dunst’s Dior dress.  The straps are interesting and the texture is there, but it’s still a litte bit drab.

While Amy Adams also went safe and simple in this Brandon Maxwell dress, at least she wore some interesting jewels.

Taking a bit more of a risk is Julie Bowen in this J Mendel Bridal style dress.  I like this one.

Print and color are always a good way to perk up a red carpet, but Michelle Dockery’s Elie Saab is looking a little too casual.

Emily Blunt wore a beautiful Roberto Cavalli dress, but something is falling flat with this look.  Is it the color?

E! correspondant Giuliana Rancic was one of the few who really went for it.  Her Yousef al Jasmi dress is gorgeous, and it makes her look like she actually has curves.

Once again wearing Louis Vuitton and a ‘kind-of’ choker is Michelle Williams.  This look is ok.

Here’s how you do stripes!  Yara Shahidi is having fun in this Naeem Kahn gown and she’s making the red carpet much more interesting.

Rocking a pretty white Roberto Cavalli  off-the-shoulder is Kerry Washington.  Another bridal style look.

More prints – always good! Gina Rodriguez is wearing a Patricia Bonaldi dress.

Call me crazy, but this is one of my favorite looks of the night.  Kate Hudson is wearing an interesting Dior dress.  Even the strange white belt is ok with me.

Sophie Turner looks gorgeous in this simple red column Louis Vuitton dress.

So classy.  Sarah Paulson looks sleek in Vera Wang.

I know it’s simple and almost so simple that it’s casual, but I really dig Tracee Ellis Ross’ Ulyana Sergenko dress, and pop of color with the earrings.

Natalie Portman looks uber pregnant and miserable…. but that’s just me making photo assumptions.  Anyway, her Dior dress is fresh off of the Paris 2017 Couture Week runway just last week!

This would make a SICK wedding gown… Felicity Huffman dons this beautiful Anthony Grimaldi number.

Brie Larson also went very chic and simple with this Jason Wu dress, but overall, I like her look.

I LOVE this look on winner Viola Davis.  Her simple but so classy white gown is Vivienne Westwood.  I also love her jewels.

There is no doubt that any Alexander McQueen dress is exquisite, but this look is falling flat on Emma Stone.

This might be a polarizing opinion, but I really like this Gucci dress on Nicole Kidman… but the shoes are suspect.  I think she was trying not to be too much taller than Keith?

Definitely NOT keeping it quiet and simple was Taraji P. Henson, who served us style in this Reem Acra.  Good for you Taraji, get it!

I don’t hate this look for Sofia Vergara because: 1. It’s Zuhair Murad, and 2. At least it’s a change.  I’m thankful that she didn’t give us another mermaid style halter dress!

Also taking a risk was Thandie Newton in this Schiparielli dress.  Good for you Thandie!

Janelle Monae looks totally adorable in this Chanel outfit.

Ugh… she’s so cool. I dig every suit she wears… and the whole look.  Evan Rachel Wood dons another Altuzarra custom suit.

Bryce Dallas Howard always comes off as so relatable.  And I love the raspberry color of her sequin gown by Dress The Population.

As soon as I saw Kaley Cuoco on TV, I knew it was a Marchesa.

Octavia Spencer looks gorgeous in this Tadashi Shoji dress, and I love her earrings with the pop of color!

Also in Marchesa (but I couldn’t tell with this one) was Sophia Bush, and I dislike the length of the dress, but other than that it’s not a bad look.

I want to know what you think.  Let me know who was your favorite in the comments.  Were you unimpressed?

I really enjoy your dress posts. My wardrobe is full of very safe and simple dark coloured dresses as I wouldn’t dare wear anything like those above! But hey, – a girl can look!
