Meet the Pantone Color(s) Of the Year

Yesterday, Pantone announced their Color(s) for 2016.  Yes, this year it is colors!  2 Colors exactly.

Rose Quartz and Serenity.

Both are very pastel, and very “baby boy- baby girl.”

I’ve read a number of suggestions from the Internet as to why there are 2 colors, and gender seems to be the overwhelming factor.  The Rose Quartz by itself can turn off the men, but combined with Serenity, it is more accepted.  Or perhaps this is a gender neutrality awareness statement.  Either way I look at it, it’s still pastels.  Meh…

Serenity is not bad by itself, but both together make me remember interior design of the 80’s… pastel curtains in particular. I’m not trying to be a hater, since usually I like the Pantone color of the year (the Radiant Orchid from 2014 was the best!)

What do you think?  Are these colors the next big thing?  Will we see them in 2016 weddings?  Together, or separate?

Either way, I’m hoping I don’t see them on curtains.
