In a beautiful loft on the top floor on the DIME Building in Detroit, 30+ creative women from Metro Detroit collaborated on a beautifully successful styled shoot showcasing the Metro Detroit creative community.
So how did all of these inspiring women come together? We are all members of The Rising Tide Society – a group of creative entrepreneurs who believe in the idea of “community over competition.” The Detroit chapter meets once a month on Tuesdays, in what we call “Tuesdays Together” at various locations around Metro Detroit. We discuss issues, offer to help and collaborate with each other, and plan events like this styled shoot.
Since the gathering was so large, 4 teams in total each created a mock event to showcase their businesses, in 4 separate sections of the loft. At the same time, we had several ‘behind the scenes’ photographers capturing the process, and some photographers provided headshots for the business owners.
One of the four teams was solely creating and styling product shots for business owners, and it turned out awesome!
A brand new endeavor for The Wedding Cat is floral design! Here are the fruits of our labor from the collaboration.
I created this green bridal bouquet because I was inspired by the green Dianthus (fluffy green balls!), and I wanted to make a bouquet that was a little bit different from the rustic-looking bouquets that we see in styled shoots a lot. The little bit of purple Statice was the perfect pinch of color.
This arrangement in deep reds and pinks was the biggie. It stood in a rose gold compote, and I sewed the tablecloth and the napkin in about 30 minutes the day before the shoot!
This last arrangement wasn’t originally planned, but I had a lot of leftover flowers in the same yellow/ green hues and I found the small copper compote at a thrift store the week before the shoot. I also really wanted to use the striped table runner – another thing I sewed last minute!

Thanks a bunch to these inspiring and successful women who participated, and special thanks to Take A Seat Events for organizing the day!
