Although the rural English wedding was not ‘royal’, it was packed with royalty.
In a 12th Century church in Bucklebury, England, Pippa Middleton tied the knot with hedge fund manager James Matthews, as Princess Kate looked on from her sister’s side. The bride wore a custom, hand-embroidered gown by Giles Deacon that had a corseted bodice covered in lace, and an heart-shaped keyhole detail on the back. Prince George and Princess Charlotte also served in the wedding party as a page boy, and flower girl.
The reception was held at the bride’s parents’ Englefield estate (west of London). It is reported that the Middleton’s built a glass marquee on their estate for the reception, and that guests were encouraged to bring two outfits – one for the wedding and one for the reception.
Princess Kate perform her maid of honor duties as she fixed Pippa’s dress, and looked after the flower girls and page boys. Prince Harry and Prince William both attended the ceremony, as well as tennis star Roger Federer. Prince Harry did not bring his American girlfriend Meghan Markle.
The bride-to-be arrived in a vintage car for the ceremony, and then the couple left together in a vintage Jaguar.
I’ve rounded-up some photos of the “almost” royal wedding below. Enjoy!
