2016 Met Gala Red Carpet Arrivals – Part 1

There is so much to look at from the 2016 Met Gala red carpet, that I had to break it up into 2 posts – to save you from scrolling for ages. This year, the annual benefit for the Met’s Costume Institute was, of course, chaired by Anna Wintour, as well as Jonathan Ive, from Apple, creating the theme of Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology.

2016 MET Gala Red Carpet

It is customary for the lucky attendees to bring out the baddest and boldest of attire for this event. The Met Gala is a safe place to take some risks, and they are encouraged to coordinate with the event’s theme. Tickets to the party are the toughest to get your hands on, unless you are invited as a designer’s guest.

There are some recurring fashion ideas happening on the red carpet, including white gowns (ooh bridal-inspired!), metallic, and dark black-red lipstick.

Scroll on and enjoy…

Alicia Vikander in a playful Louis Vuitton dress and some pretty bad@ss boots.

Taking a bold (for her) gothic-y look is Taylor Swift, who is also in Louis Vuitton.  Taylor is also a host for the event.  Perhaps Anna Wintour had some influence on her look tonight?

Selena Gomez is another in Louis Vuitton. The boots are a bit jarring, but it works all together.

Elle Fanning is our first bridal-inspired look in Thakoon (and it looks too big for her).

Chloe Moretz is wearing Coach.

Hailee Steinfield is one of a number of celebrities that wore H & M tonight. Yes! THAT H & M!

You know Rita Ora wouldn’t miss out on an opportunity to be half-naked on a red carpet.  Vera Wang dressed her like a bird tonight.  I do like her hair though… (lol… good hair).

Going for a retro look is Michelle Williams.  Though it is not super elegant and dressy, I really like it.

Going bridal again is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who is wearing Raplh Lauren, along with Jason Statham

Juno Temple, from HBO’s Vinyl (good show!), wearing Erdem.

Saoirse Ronan in a Christopher Kane Gown that I really dislike.

Killing it in Marchesa is Poppy Delvigne. This looks so cool!

Your queen – Anna Wintour, in Chanel, with her daughter, Bee Schaffer, in Alexander McQueen.  Both dresses are stunning!

Also a queen, Sarah Jessica Parker killed it with this white suit by Monse.

Which brings us to one who thinks she is a queen. Kate Bosworth is wearing Dolce & Gabbana

I don’t understand why Megyn Kelly is there, or why she would wear a boring-@ss Badgley Mischka dress.  Maybe she doesn’t understand why she is there either.

Alessandra Ambrosio in a smokin’ hot Balmain gown.

Rose Byrne wore Ralph Lauren, and it didn’t go well.

Demi Lovato wore a bold Moschino dress, and I really like it.

Can you believe this is H & M?  Amber Valetta looks so cute in this dress.

Newly-engaged Kate Upton in Top Shop.

Another Bridal-inspired gown – Uma Thurman in Tommy Hilfiger

Maria Sharapova chose an interesting look.  I like it.

Ciara stayed true to the theme in this H & M.  Bravo!

In one of many metallic dresses tonight, Anna Ewers wearing Jason Wu.

Jourdan Dunn looks like an actual Givenchy robot.  Nice.

Kanye West’s sister-in-law wearing Balmain.

Hailey Baldwin looks bored to tears in Tommy Hilfiger.

Someone invited Emily Ratajowski and she wore Prabal Gurung.

Nicole Kidman looks like a bad@ss bohemian moon princess.  The internet cannot decide if she is wearing Alexander McQueen, or Roberto Cavalli, so I’m listing both.

Kendall is the least offensive of the Kardashian-Jenners, plus she’s not a slave to Balmain.  She went with a chic Versace gown.

Kate Mara in Paco Rabanne, and did well with the theme.

Karlie Kloss is rocking bridal chic in Brandon Maxwell.

Zoe Saldana goes BIG in Dolce & Gabbana. Beautiful.

Lady Gaga decided to go bottomless, because, why not?  This leotard/ Jacket is Versace.

Kate Hudson is slaying in this Versace dress.

Kerry Washington is pregnant and wore Marc Jacobs.

Willow Smith in Chanel, and Jaden Smith in Louis Vuitton.

More Metals: Cindy Crawford in Balmain.

Emily Blunt and Olivia Wilde are both pregnant, and also both in Michael Kors dresses. So cute.

Our last one in this bunch is interesting: Adriana Lima wearing a Giambatistta Valli dress that Allison Williams just wore to an event a few weeks ago!

… To be continued…
